CAN ANYONE TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT A MEDALLION I FOUND ON THE WEEKEND. THE FRONT SAYS VERMONT DEPT ENCAMPMENT G.A.R JUNE 21-22, 1899 MONTREAL, CAN. IT ALSO HAS 2 FLAGS ONE US AND THE OTHER OF WHICH I'M NOT SURE.
THE BACK IS A MAPLE LEAF WITH CANADA ACROSS IT.

I can tell you its from the 32nd encampment (gathering) which was the only ONE held outside of the u.s. in quebec. Thats all I know. Hope this helps you.

Did some quick Ebay searching about your medal and found two that are being sold. I included the link to one below. Granted it's not your year 1899, but they are 1897 and 1894 I believe. Great Find!

Thanks for the info everyone! I was thrilled to find it! It was found at an old school in Brandon, Manitoba Canada. How it got here I'll never know. I did look at the link for the medal auctioned on Ebay. Mine is about the size of a quarter with a bit of an extension that has a hole to put on a chain. I looked for the chain but could not find it.

Does anyone know why the Vermont 1899 encampment was held in Montreal? I've been trying to find out a little more about the event but can't seem to find much. Any help is greatly appreciated.
