Is this a Civil War Bullet?

I went with my brother to the 1860's college tonight for a couple hours. There is a woods behind it,that was not woods back in the day. There was also a civil war camp very close,Camp Utley. Wasn't finding much and then this.
Is it a civil war bullet? Caliber? Why is it flat on top? The penny is for size, but I also found it,a 1955 D,but no double stamp.
    Thanks for your help, Steve

Looks to be a Three ringer Southern manufacturer,
But you need the measurements to know exoctly which
    one it is.
    Definitely Civil War Era!
    Nice find.

The 1955 doubled die is only on the Philadelphia penny, not Denver.
