Detected the castle for about 1.5 hours, only found a few square nails. I?m limited to where I can detect here. I hope to get an approved permit soon to detect the surrounding fields of the castle, should find out this week and it?s been well over 7 months in the making, political red tape. A pic while detecting today.

The castle, as cool a place it is to detect, proved boring. So I went to the drained lake pursuing gold. I detected near the muddy areas closer to the beach side. It?s really muddy near the middle of the lake. After a few weeks it should harden up and be more comfortable to detect.

Today?s lake finds. I lucked out near the end and found a nice 9K (333) Gold necklace, it weighs 21 grams. Worked hard for the other coins in the muddy area, around 6.60 Euros in coins and 1 junk ring. The rings in the photo are from this week?s hunts. My Mother-In-Law claimed a nice 9K Gold thin band ring right after I polished it, good public relations with her as she talks a lot of crap about my detecting. Wifey claimed a nice silver ring that looks like it has 12 diamonds in it, I don?t know about the diamonds so next time she drags me off to a shopping mall, I?ll have it checked by a jeweler, at least I?ll have something to do, LOL! HH, Mike

Fantastic finds there. Man, the potential a old castle, I'm so jealous.

Great finds Mike.......excellent picture too! The lake will be much better hunting ground soon. I'm waiting for my lake to go down too. I went yesterday and it's still full. :'( I have to patient though. All the jewelry is at the bottom.

Keep us updated!

Great job....I would love to detect in Europe, so much history there and so much treasure to be found!! But, like you said, most of the good places are probably off limits.
