Hey guys! I dug a really really old button today! I do not know if its real or not. I went hunting with JuJu and we were at stelicom and this is the only good signal I got all day that seemed worth keeping. It says Waterbury Conn. on the back. I am pretty sure. I am super stocked! :) I know not to get my hopes up if its real or not. Please tell me the age. Its about 1/2 inch across.

Mine doesn't say Scoville on the back. It says COS

Nice find. It's quite similar to the older (CW) NY militia buttons, but I think the backmark (Waterbury Co's Conn.) would make a post 1944 button, which would explain it's very nice condition.

Re: Found a button! Found The ID! Need help on the year!

That is a sweet looking button Them NY buttons are cool.
But,however I will say.It is listed on page 202 in Albert's Button book,listed as # NY 31-B.
They also state that there are a # of varieties of this button that was also used by municipal
employees rather than the armed forces.
But,no matter what it is a very nice button and will display well.

Fantastic find!! I love finding old buttons almost as much as finding old coins! No doubt that is a real one! 20th century for sure, but it is a beauty! Waterbury CT was once known as "Brass City". because of its long history as the center of the nation's brass industry.

Congrats on your find!
