I found this at a new sight today. In the 1800's and early 1900's this site was a general store and post office. I found it out back about 3 inchs deep. It had lots of routs holding it down and not wanting to give it up. It is double sided, the side that was down is brighter and cleaner then the side that was up. I'm gessing the sign is from around 1900 and has been in the ground over 100 years. Here are some pics, the first one is when I got a little glimpse of what it was then all cleaned up. I just washed it with water and sponge. Sorry the pics aren't better only have my phone camera and my digital was not working when I got home.

I found two from a river excavation. One was bent and scraped very bad ... Sold on E-Bay $85.00. That was a nice extra. Found another one that had a small bend and had little damage .. E-bay once again $480.00 plus shipping. You find should get you between $200-$600. Real nice ones sell for $800-$1200. You found a nice sign that paid for your gas ... Enjoy .. Jim

That is a very cool sign! A highly collectible tin sign...( tobacciana ) in decent shape considering it's been in the dirt for so long. Collectors will buy that sign reardless of any rust and corrosion. That is awesome! Good job being on your toes and digging those BIG signals!
