1760's Trade Silver Heart and Crown Brooch!

Well I finally managed to get out for a hunt. Slow start this year as I could have been out 3 weeks ago...but my wife has been away...I didn't get out in the fall either as my wife was away then as well. Been a loooooong time coming.

I have been wanting to find one of these for quite some time now, and I was stunned when I cut a plug and this sucker popped out.

Silver heart shaped trade brooch, also known as "Luckenbooth" brooches. This piece dates to the 1760's. Unfortunately it lacks a makers mark, but I'll take it!

The quality of this piece is awesome, and it is made from high quality thick silver, unlike many trade silver pieces. This one was most likely worn by a British Officer during the Seven Years War.

I have a slew of other odds and ends which I will post tomorrow. Too tired tonight...and sun fried!

Thanks everyone! Was so nice to get out! I have been going crazy. The find just topped it all off as it's been on my wish list for quite some time!

I can't possibly be the only one who believes this to be a BANNER find , Its rare , historic , beautiful, early ....

In two years on here , Ive never seen one - an extremely BANNER worthy find my friend ! Argentium.
