Today My brother, Dad, Dad's friend, and I went out on a journey to look for a town that was destroyed by flooding in 1916. While we didn't find a lot in terms of metal detecting we found quite a bit of interesting things such as pottery, bricks, old foundations, and even an old logging spike that a logger would have stood on while chopping down a tree. We spent several hours searching, and will likely return in the future. Anyways most of what we found were old nails, fishing weights, and zincolns. I added quite a few pictures of the surrounding area because it was so beautiful. One picture is of my brother detecting around the foundation of the old powerhouse. Anyways although detecting wasn't the best it was still a fun day of exploring. Thanks for looking and happy hunting

Nice pictures. If I were there I pack a lunch and head to the top for 8 hours of detecting.
Maybe stay up there for a week.

I've got a couple of places that I hunt, that flood. Since I started using my super 12 coil, I've been finding some things deep

Washingtonian, I believe your spike is an ordinary RR spike that was used to hold the plates to the ties. Loggers used springboards to stand on when they cut trees down. They would notch the trunk and slip the board in to stand on.

Awesome photos of the countryside and it is gorgeous! Don't be discouraged...I'll bet it's worth another trip there! The shore of that lake looks pretty inviting! :icon_sunny:

Yeah, I'd give that place a good scouring with my detector...several times! Looks like a great place to hunt.
