FINALLY, the snow melted and rain stopped, and I got back out to the field that I found the Indian heads in last weekend. Today I found a nice, but holed 1853 half dime, a beautiful 1864 L Indian head and a 1867 indian in not so good shape, (but it is a semi key). Also found a great token from S.L. Wilkins, dealer in boots, shoes and shoe stocks, hats, caps, and furs, Lowell Mass. Found some nice buttons including a very cool one with a stag on it. Also another lead ax and boot toe plate. If felt great to get back outside. And, not to be outdone by my brother with his $7,000 dollar diamond ring, I found a genuine gold plated brass and glass, (at least a carat) ring. Thanks for looking...Lance

Nice finds we both posted an 1867 Indian head today. You got more older coins than me today. Looks like you hit a good spot.

Well congrats Lance I am glad to hear that you got out today. VERY NICE, VERY NICE, I know the field and I wish I was out there with you. You know I can't always be there, besides I am a softy when it comes to cold weather. I hope you get more chances before it freezes up solid. I will look foreward to more posts. ;D

Very cool finds. Pardon me for asking (my memory is not all that great), but does this field have a history?

Keep up the good work!

Great finds! At what depths are you getting those IH's?

Bob
Hey Bob, in this field it seems like all of the Indians are about 4 inches. The field has been tilled in the past, so it is hard to say. I have pulled seven out of this field in two days...Lance

Awesome finds!! That ring looks really old! could it be 1700's?
Thanks Jake, I don't know very much about rings. Most of what I have found in this field has been around early 1800 to about the civil war. I would assume it to be in that time period, but am not sure...Lance

HH,

Hey Moon, the field lies behind what was an old store during the period of about 1830 to 1850. The house next to it was built in 1785 and there is another cellar hole from an early 1800 house that burned down in 1930. No other history that I am aware of. Thanks for asking...Lance

Incredible finds. I love to see these old coins and relics.
The token looks like a Hard Times token.

thanks BK, yes it is hard times token. Book indicates 1834. The front is not in real good shape, but it has a picture of lafayette standing dressed up with a top hat. Hope that helps....Lance
