Hello!

Today is day two of my week vacation ~ I headed downtown again to do some detecting! I dug plenty of clad and only one wheat cent ~ the highlights of the day are a 1971-D Ike dollar and a 1943-S Mercury dime.

The Ike dollar is only the second one I've dug in over 16 years of detecting! The merc is a common date but it's pretty high grade! I took pic's of both sides ~ I don't usually take pic's of the back side, but this one just about has all it's detail!

This Merc dime is my silver coin find #31 for the year.

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Nice finds. I think I too have found two Ikes. One was in the wooded part of a park, very strange. The other was with two halves, one a 40% - I imagine a kid was playing there as who could lose an Ike and two halves at the same time? Guess I'll never know for sure. Congrats on the keepers. :-)

Neil,

Great finds, and would definitely make for a great day. I bet you had to stare at that big coin for a while before your brain could register what it was? Looks like you're on track for another great week of vacation detecting. I hope you keep posting your daily finds, I sure love seeing them.

Sure is a pretty merc! Congrats! I personally haven't found an Ike yet, so you are 2 ahead of me!

Enjoy the rest of the vacation! Hope you get out more! Keep us posted!

I just scrubbed it with a wire brissle brush with soap & hot water ~ it sure looks a lot better now than when I dug it!

WTG Buddy......There are very hard to find....folks just don't loose those often.....or carry them around in fact. I found one a couple of years ago and couldn't believe what I was seeing! Happy Vacation!

Moon
