Finally the rains have stopped and we had a awesome day for digging. Perfect conditions and the ground was moist and easy to dig. Mark and I made it out to a spot I found last year and where I dug the Hardee Hat Badge last week.

I went back to that same hole trying to find the other small piece of the Hat pin but no luck. I was getting lots of mixed signal, out came a few small pieces of lead and square nails. I finally zeroed in on a Eagle button. I went to another area and Mark went by that same spot with a smaller coil and dug a Eagle cuff. I made another pass by the same spot and dug part of a shoulder board that still had the pin attached.

We had a great hunt and on the way out I stopped by another spot and Mark dug a trigger guard and I dug DEEP mangled shoulder scale. I'm guessing the field had been plowed due to the damage of the scale and the depth of it. Everything here was real deep. Just before we left I dug a marble attached to a chain, at first I thought it was a old ear ring? Looks like a piece of old jewelry? Any ideas on it I would appreciate it. Had a great day!

Nice finds! The eagle button is Beautiful!

But the best find by far is the Lieutenant's shoulder strap decoration. These Seldom come out of the ground in nice shape! I've seen non-dug ones approach $300 in price.

The chain the marble is attached to is part of a watch fob. Marble is a later thing. It seems to be a machine made marble.

Thanks for that link, I have another one I dug not long ago that is quite a bit different, it seems to have some gold on it. Now I can find out the difference between the two. The second pic is the other relics from that site. I need another display case I think, thanks again for the link.

Very nice finds Tim!!! Those officer's insignias are very hard to find. I have found only one piece of a Lt's bar in 14 years of CW detecting. I hope you get in the hunt. HH.

I've never found one in 17 years. Still looking.

Best Wishes,
