I KNEW I missed some coins there! I lived a few blocks from Garfield Park on Barth Ave. and spent alot of my younger years there. I thought we'd cleaned most of that park out back in the late 60's and early 70's using the metrotechs and coinmasters. There is a sand pit that should be full of the old plastic soldiers and all sorts of military vehicles. Had to bury them all when the "big kids" got out of Manual High School and started walking past us. It was run or get tossed into the creek! Lots of stuff got tossed off of any of those bridges too except the bridge by closest to the old railroad bridge. But then again on the other side of that bridge was a footbridge leading to the high school. I know there was a whole lot of coins (mostly copper pennies) tossed into that portion of the creek from the footbridge. But back then the water was to polluted to even think about hunting in the creek. I think they've cleaned the water up quite a bit since I left Indianapolis back in 1985.
Seeing that you had hunted Garfield Park brought back many silver memories. Thanks for the post and for jogging my memory!
