1917 Bayonet & Scabbard

I didn't find it detecting, instead I found it fishing! It was just sitting in the grass on the edge of a lake I was at, I think someone was using it to cut brush. The blade is 16.5 inches and over all length is 21.5 inches. It says Lithgow 1917. I have four pics of the other markings. This is the coolest thing I have ever found. Any info would be great.

It's sad the items that people use sometimes for work.

There are several posters on here that use bayonets for digging tools, something I wouldn't recommend, a little hard to explain to the police if your in a park.
