Hi all.......
Ron, Neil and I took a road trip up north to one of our
favorite hunting spots and left early to try to beat the heat
that was predicted. (none of us do well in the heat) It was
cool for about 2 hours, then started to warm up really fast.
We all did fairly well for finding silver, so it was a good short hunt.
I found:
12 quarters (one was my second SLQ with No date...darn again)
14 clad dimes
2 nickles
48 cents ( 4 were wheats 2- '40-s, '42-s and 45-d)
1 English/British 10 PENCE coin (my first)
1 Arcade token

Thanks for looking and HH to all Gold Nuggets :hello:

NICE FINDS MAN!! Those Standing Liberty quarters are fun to dig ~ too bad they usually don't have a date!

We had fun today! Hopefully next time it won't be so HOT!

Great finds there! Glad to see that you all find a few goodies. Makes it a better ride home if all have a few keepers and nobody got skunked. I guess today was the day to find SLQ's. Dates seem to be optional on the early ones. Still a great coin to find!

Dave

Gold Nugget,

Can you get a better scan of the date area of the SLQ? Looks to me from your picture that you have a 1924-D SLQ. The 1924 was the only year of them that ended in 4. And from the picture you sure look like it ends in 24. If you look closely you can see the 2 and the 4.

HH,

Dave

From your closer scan of my SLQ, I can see the 4 but the 2 to me is just wishful thinking. I know that the 1924-d is probably the correct date and you are also correct, but someday I will find one that I don't have to strain my eyes to see the date. Thanks Dave HH Gold Nuggets :hello:

It looks like this.
But with a new scan it would be easier to see I think? The first SLQ I found today was smooth. No chance what so ever of getting a date. Yours is far from dateless. I think mine is a 18 over 17 though? At least I can't proove it is not?

HH,

Dave
