Didn't dig this one everyone but would like to find a gold coin one day. I actually got this on e-bay last week. I kept a eye on it because I liked the way the coin looked. I think I got a bargain price of 31.20 plus 5 .00 for shipping. I don't know alot about this coin. It's a 1914 10 franc gold coin. 200,000 minted. That's about all I know. It's the size of a u.s nickle. Took it to a jewler yesterday to get a good link put on it for my chain. He said it was atleast 22kt gold and that it's coin value isn't gone due to the shank on the top. He said he could cleanly remove it if I wanted it off.

Figured all you coin collectors out there would appreciate it so I posted it. Sorry the back isn't a good shot on the coin. I would say the coin is in v.f to e.f condition. Anyone have a world coin book they could look it up and tell me what it might be worth would be cool.

Thanks everyone

HH Jeremy

Fair deal considering gold is up near $500 per oz. at the moment.

The coin alone is probably $50 for the gold content.

Thanks guys, I figured that it was worth double what I paid just in scrap gold content itself. But curious to know it's coin value. I think it's worth somewhere between 55.00 and 95.00 dollars. I just couldn't find that exact year. Saw another one I think a 1915 go for 67.00 on e-bay. No matter the price a love to collect coins and gold coins are some really nice one's to have.

Helvetia's are mostly "Restrikes" Jer, the same a Mexican Peso's, and Dutch Ducat's, etc. etc.

more or less they are like "Bullion gold" and follow the gold market rate...

The coins sell at current spot + a small margin of profit/percent...

At this time because gold is near $500 an oz. yours is worth approx. $60 from a retail standpoint... If gold falls $50 or more per oz. your coin value will follow, and adjust in value accordingly...

Nice gold. I may end up buying one some day, since I have not yet found one. I figure if I do find one, it will probably be a recent loss, like on a necklace or something. I'll still appreciate it though.

Thanks guys. It's my first gold coin and they are nice. I plan on getting some more in the future. They are like the ultimate coins to collect.

It reads out a solid 22 23 vdi on the dfx kermit. Real strong tone and could easily be walked over by a lazy hunter. Hope to get some type of gold coin one day. I think I'll find one it's just a matter of time.

Keep at it everyone

Nice coin. The coin is listed in the Krause-Mishler Standard Catalog as KM-36. All 1914 dated 10 Francs were minted at BERN. It should wegh 3.2258 grams and would contain .09333 oz. of gold. It is .900 gold. The other 10% is probably copper, to increase the hardness. Current price guides list it at F-$60 VF-$100 XF-$125 Not bad for under $40 on EBAY.. SmokeEater

Hey Jer, I'd say you got a very good buy. A Swiss 10 France lists in the catalogue of World's most popular coins at $100.00. Congrats...Lance

Thanks alot Lance and smoke. It's cool to know more about a coin you don't know much about. I just liked the coin and for 31.00 bucks it was worth it. You can't get anything these days for 36.20 shipped and insured. I would say it grades a v.f easily.

It's not a american coin but it has a nice head on the front and is old like I like things.

Thanks again for all the info everyone.
