Good question Shaun, it's made of lead. Seen them called flint holders, but I don't know.

That's weird, the first thing i thought when i saw it was that it was from a musket gun! I must have seen one here before or something, but i don't remember!

Oh well, at least some of my brain still works :laughing7:

That is one little coin!! What type is it?

Ray
Hello Ray, there called barbarous radiates. Local copies of official Roman coins, at the time the Roman empire was starting to fall. So coinage was no longer being shipped to Britain.

Nice Cows! Lovely Roman :hello2:.
I've been having a problem with flies around here too - big nasty ones that bite!!! The Horse Fly - noisy buggers - killed about 20 of em as they landed on me but the ones that bit me made me suffer for weeks - I'd previously covered myself in insect repellant 'Jungle Formula' - and it just didn't work against the Horse Fly. Contacted the manufacturer and they didn't seem that interested.

Where yours biting Rob or just flying around?

Anyone recommend anything (that works) to keep the biting ones away?

we have problem with horse flys. There are about 4 different types (green eyed ones are the worst). Most of them fly silent, but as you say they are slower than normal flys & you can swat them. This is the only thing you can do. Let them land & swat them. Dad & I have been in the middle of a field hitting each other on the head, very funny. 1 landed on my Dads crouch & I let him hit that one :laughing7:

Thermacell keeps everything that flys away. When the wind is not blowing to hard. App. $20 for the unit and $7 for the refills. You can also buy a case to wear on your side.

We've got those huge flies in S. Korea, too. Seems they have spread out pretty much around the world.
Best thing that we use.....a fly swatter. They are slow enough to hit in the air. And the ones here are noisy
when they first approach.....it is when I have swatted at them and got them irritated that they come in real
silent and land and .....OUCH! >:(
If you get something that works, post it, please. We need it here. :help:
Great finds......too bad you couldn't get the cows' behinds working for you.....they use their tail to keep the buggers away.
