found a $100 Gold coin

went out this morning an pulled a $1.87 in clad a few pop tops an a $100 Peso looked it up they where taken out of circulation ,so its a coin worth nothing lol if it was still in use it would be worth $7.57 USD lol oh well its another cool coin for my collection.



PS sorry these arent of my coin I was to lazy to dig out the cam these are of a website I got my info from but their the same coin . :icon_thumright:

I got one of those too about a year ago and was Soooo excited. Oh well at least it is worth more than a quarter! congrats

Nice coin!! Its An old Venustiano Carranza $100 peso coin .. The "peso" was renamed as "nuevo peso" in the mid 1990's and the old thick coins were out of commision .. what was $1,000 pesos back then turned into just $1 " nuevo peso " .. so that $100 peso coin was suddently worth just $0.10 peso overnight and for about a year you could trade in these old coins for for new $0.10 coins .. i think they did that again at least one more time since then so it might be worth $0.001 peso by now .. :laughing9:

I almost forgot , the wife has one in her collection as well, it was in a bag full of Dave & Busters Tokens :laughing9: ..

The exciting thing about metal detecting is, when you get that hit on the detector, you just really never know what you have until you dig it up! Cool find . . .
