Roman Villa Field.

went back to our Roman Villa field today, the rape crop is no harvested and the stubble has been disced to be honest wasn't really expecting much

We spent a total of eight hours on this field today and it was a grueler signals were few and far between, which took it's toll on my poor joints, but I managed a hammered coin of Edward1

A small broken Roman ring turned up, along with a broken Headstud Brooch, Michael my detecting buddy managed another 2 hammered then I had this very unusuall piece

I am going to stick my neck out and say this could be Saxon to me it looks a bit like some sort of Knife, or Dagger pommel Cap, dipicting what looks like a bird either end

Anyway have a look and see what ya think

What we did manage to find today was the floor to our Roman Villa

These pieces often have 'hidden' faces as well, so the first shot could be another animal/person

Depends really, if it was me that plastered that villa it could well be off the floor

I mean't off of the walls, with the different colours on the plaster it looks like it could be part of a mural!
