Hello everyone. Went back today in the heat (all day) to hunt the old grounds where an old home once stood. It stood exactly where the picnic ground for the local chuch now stands.
Today I found my first thimble. Some of you may think, big deal. It's only a thimble. I have not found one yet and finding one turns the clocks back when Mothers didn't work outside the home. They were the caretakers of the home while the husband worked. They mended everything by hand and nothing was wasted if it had a rip or a hole. It would be sewed by hand by Mother.
I also found 7 wheats (mostly in the 30's and a few early 40's)
1 copper ring
An old flat button with "Extra Colour" as the makers mark
1 old lead ball (Buck shot?)
And an old "American Standard" bicycle plate. It reads, " Manufactured for Columbus Cycle and sporting goods Co. Columbus, Ohio USA
Thanks for looking Ron
