The other day I went to a new site I found with the help of
some 75 year old aerial photos. Its a small island in a lake near
my house, the island is heavily overgrown and has a cellar hole
and an old well. The first time I went I found a 1945 mercury
dime and four wheats, today I found a 1894 barber quarter
a 1941 and a 1950 wheat and an old button. The button appears
to have a eagle grasping some arrows and branches, there is
a shield over the breast of the eagle with the letter "I" in it.
I also found a brass object that looks like a coat hook.
My friend that was detecting with me found a 1864 Indian head
penny.

Joe

Looks to me like you've got yourself a genuine bona fide Civil War(or earlier) era Infantry button as well! Congrats on your first 1800's coin and a nice relic too! The brass piece is a rein guide from horse or mule harness as well! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:
