Larry and I found one of our fields where the beans had been picked so we stopped for a while and did OK. I got a 1910 Barber Dime, an 1894 V-Nickel (which is a little better date) an 1882 Indiana Dog Tag. The obverse reads Dog-Tag-1882 the reverse has Lafayette,Indiana, a 1907 Indian and a nice unusual pocket knife.
Larry did well he got a 1865 2 cent piece, a 1912-D Barber dime, a 1912 wheat and another coin that I can't remember. WE really enjoyed the start of the season. Thanks for looking...........Lee

Nice finds! I just got back into central Indiana from Florida and I was surprised to see a few bare bean fields. I love hunting these but I am afraid this year might be a short season. Love the pocket knife and token.

Great finds! I'm waiting for the beans to be removed too. Seems like it'll only be a couple more days...

Those dog tax tags with the IN state seal are cool finds. It is unfortunate that they are the most common of the early Indiana tags. I like the pocket knife too.

Thanks for all the info..I had not checked on the knife, I did check on the 1882 dog tax tag and found it was some what common....I think this will be a good year as we have picked up a couple more thousand acres to hunt..Should be a few house sites there..WE even have some corn starting to come out of the fields along with the beans. We are leaving in a week to relic hunt in central Virginia, by the time we get back should have a lot of fields open.................Lee
