First Great Homestead Of The Fall Found On Saturday. Made A Ton Of Finds

Hey everyone,

Hope I don't wear my welcome back to quickly. Saturday, was the first day of fall homestead hunting for me. It still needs to die out some more before I can really get into it.

However, after 2 hrs nearly searching for one of the homes I had on the map. We ran into another witch was great. I am destined to find them all. This one was very nice. Not as old as I would have liked it to have been. But none the less an untouched site. It will need to die out some more before I can really get to all of the site.

It has a great old foundation. And a really large spring house at the bottom of the bluff. I am siting on the wall of the spring house. This site was used heavily. There is broken glass and shards everywhere. Atleast 3 or 4 different bottle pits at this place. Not alot of old coins to speak of though.

This area has a great creek near it. And deer are really plentiful. No need for money at those times. I did find a 1865 indian and a 1903. But the rest was just wheats and a nice franklin half. I was dissapointed though with the half. It's about 100 yrs off from what I would expect for a site like this.

But I will take it. Halfs don't come often. It was a surface find. Came away with some great old strerling what's it's though. Found the most beautiful door knob I ever seen in my life. It is split in half though. Breaks my heart let me tell ya lol. I love relics like these. Found a great heinz watch fob.

It says the wearer will have 57 varieties of good luck and happiness. Pretty cool huh. I might put it in my pocket lol. Got a really nice 1897 barber dime and a 1917 merc. Got a weird silver ring to. The rest is all self explanitory for the most part. Buttons and buckles and such. Hope you all like the pics.

HH Jer

Re: First Great Homestead Of The Fall Found On Saturday. Made A Ton Of Finds

Yes,

Thanks alot everyone. The site is a tough one to hunt right now with all the growth. It is still to early yet to be hunting foundations. I'm just trying to locate them right now. Once I find them I will go back and back till there is nothing left.

Yes, Nana he is getting big. He'll be bigger than me here soon. He swings his ace pretty well for a 8 yr old to. He always comes out for the hunt. I gotta give it to him. He will walk 5 miles up vertical mountains like a champ. He really is something else. But I have had him in the woods since he was 1.5 yrs old.

He will be a better treasure hunter than I am one day. I've been teaching him everything I know. I gotta get him a better unit though. He likes my dfx. When I get a new one and he gets a little older I think he will really do good.

Thanks again guys

One thing we have in abundance around here, and that's cellar holes! The stuff you find around them can be astounding. With today's wind and colder temps, leaves will start falling and cellar hole season will be here! Great finds!

Some real neat find there man. It's almost a shame that some of the relics and stuff don't get more attention, like they all get thrown into one pic but some of them could be a cool post by themselves. Keep sniffing out those foundations and enjoy. 8)

Re: First Great Homestead Of The Fall Found On Saturday. Made A Ton Of Finds

Yes,

Thank you very much everyone. I work very hard on researching sites. Plus alot of time and foot work goes into it. The hardest parts are lining up the sites as best as I can. Then finding them. They can be really hard to find at times. More than a handful of times I was standing right ontop of the site and didn't even know it. Had to turn the unit on to tell.

I'm getting ready HD. Can't wait till this all dies out. More areas are going to be opening up. I'm hoping for some large coppers or a early silver here this fall.

Thank you SF. I actually thought the pics could have been better. I try to get them as good as possible for you guys. I am trying to learn a new computer here while I do this. So I expect to get a little better here with them.

Nate,

Good to hear from you man. Hope your Dad and school is going well. Maybe you guys can come over this spring. I will take us out to a bunch of old sites. The way you two hunt I'm sure my sites would give you guys some keepers. You yourself are damn good on that dfx man. I've seen you in action comb over top of other hunters and pull silver.

Once again thanks for viewing everyone

Yes,

Thank you Steve.

Tons of treasure out there to be found still. Get to know your unit well. Go to parks and ball fields and just dig tons of signals. Then once you get the hang of it. Find some old properties to hunt. Good luck with it man.

MAN that is a pile of treasures.....the item with threads and loop in pic 018.....just above to the left of the blue and white marble piece..... looks like the lid to a ww1 canteen....see if it doesnt have country names written around the top.....they represent the United Nations....awesome digs...we don't have many sites like that in Alabama

Re: First Great Homestead Of The Fall Found On Saturday. Made A Ton Of Finds

Thanks alot guys,

Yes, You are right. It does have a bunch of writing on it. I wanna say it is made by the shrader co. I think it was made in germany. I am at work right now and don't have it in front of me. If I can recall I have another one of these somewhere.

Should I check for any specific writing to let me know for sure that's what that is. Thanks again for the info.

Yes, the unit is running pretty well lately. Just got it back from whites not long ago. Got a tune up on it. It's been sucking a ton of items from the ground. I've put somewhere between 5 and 10 thousand hrs on that unit in the past 8 yrs almost.
