Well after getting a Roman Silver & hammered yesterday, I was bedding in for a tough day. However, on my first run & my first find (dug a few bits of rubbish) was a tiny Gold Celtic coin. My 5th Gold Coin this year (our 6th) :icon_thumright: Took me 20 years to get my first Celtic Gold, now Dad & I have had 5 in the last 2 years :o
We have done this land many times & its full of junk from an old WWI era allotment, we keep clearing the junk every year & it has finally paid of. This coin is no bigger than 10mm.
(10 man hours)Dad & I.

Quarter Stater of Tasciovanus
Circa 15-10BC
[T]ASC in tablet
Pegasus reverse

How are we going to beat this year ::)

Re: No.5

Hey Crusader,

Nearly all your finds are "golden" IMHO. But that tiny coin is fantastic! Our $1 gold coin, from the 1800's is also very small, but also very beautiful. Easy to see how they could be lost.
Keep at it.

Re: No.5

What a feeling it must be seeing that little Celtic gold sparkle up at you in the dirt! With the stuff that is available for you guys there to find,I'm surprised that there are not 20 million MD's in the UK.

I havnt seen a quarter stater before i think, or i have just not payed attention.
But i wonder how rare they are to find compared to full staters( ok they are all rare but
the size should make tem harder to find) ?
Big congrats and may the next gold be roman

Re: No.5

WOW...where did you find that awesome Roosevelt dime?? Nice to see the gold showing for you again, your finds are ALWAYS amazing even without the gold. I know you put alot fo research and swinging time in but your finds are well worth all that effort as your many banner finds show!!!! Congrats once again on another sweet gold coin. And as far as how you are gonna beat this year? I think the only way you might beat it is with a stick... :D :icon_thumleft:

Wow, I would be thrilled with those cool buttons.... :sign13: Does anyone else think that Crusader needs a separate banner just for his finds? I can't keep them all straight :notworthy:

I agree with Scrather. Just those buttons would make my year. ;D

Its my first Qrter & yes I believe they are hard to find due to there size. But I'm sure on better land they come out more often. This field is not known to have much Celtic activity. :)
