KKC (KirkKyleChris) got out today to a new site and I found this Coronet cent and relics. We will be hitting a new site next Saturday that Chris and I got permission for yesterday; we are not allowed to hunt it on Sundays.
Since my copper wasn't rare or in great shape already, I decided to try the peroxide method on it. I only kept it in for probably 1 or 2 minutes. In my opinion, it looks much better than it did before. The excess dirt is almost completely off of the coin. Here is the after pic taken under artificial lighting.
I will probably continue to use the peroxide method on coppers in similar condition as this one.
I love finding LC's. cant wait for the fields up here to get cleared its been a slow process with all the rain we have had. The spot i hit last year produced 10 LC's, 1856 dime, and a british coin and of course buttons and musketballs to many to count. Corn is still standing its driving me crazy. Happy hunting all and i hope that soon i will have some finds to post.
I have 22 coppers this year and my group has 67. We only hunt once a week, so we are really satisfied with our results this year. Our goal of 100 coppers for the 2009 season is still attainable, as long as we get permission and find a few very promising sites that I have high on the list.
