snake and stars button and some large cents. (new pic's added)

Hi all I got out yesterday to do some diggin and found some stuff ! ;D I was searching along a river at an old horse track. This area has alot of history including Indian.I ended up finding my oldest large cents so far and a cool button(posted in what is it) The LC's are a 1795 ? and a 1796.I also got a holed LC and ither a KG copper or Conn. copper not sure. As I was leaving I found a nice arrowhead and I was just about to the van ready to call it a day when I got a signal that I was pretty sure would be a button.Dug it up and sure enough a cool button.I dident think much about the button at first but after getting home and taking a closer look I noticed what looked like a snake around the border. So I posted it on the "whatis it" section here and got an id.(thanks again y'all) I almost dident dig the button as I was hungry thirsty tired and my back was aching....glad I did though ! ;D

awesome finds... that button may be military or political, most of those buttons have been found in company with American Rev War buttons but may be of a slightly later period.. They are of French made... 13 raised six pointed starts within a border of a snake grasping its tail

My buddy from Pittsburgh dug two of them. I would have to say you dug some nice relics at that site. Keep hitting it, my friend! :headbang:

Thanks y'all. Interesting that the button was imported from France as the first settllers to that area were French and built a mill just a short distance upriver from were I found the stuff. I'll be heading back that way soon......no doubt ! ;D

Thanks y'all. I've found dozens of LC's but this is my first liberty cap.The majority of my LC's this year have been Draped bust.....you would think I could find some early American silver at these sites.....soon......I hope.

Got back to this site today and managed an 1802 LC in rough shape and something I've never seen before....a cut LC looks to be about a quarter of a cent.

Well, I like seeing those early year Cents, the Liberty Caps are my favorite for both Half and Large Cent. As far a a Large Cent cut into a quarter piece. Here is one I found, so they surely did do it, even to Large Cents.........
