Jeff,

that large cent says "come back soon, y'hear?". I would be all over that site, like the others said.

An LC day is always a good day.

That measuring relic thingie is pretty interesting.

Can't wait to see what else you find there. I wonder what the site used to be.

Site was Called EAST SIDE POOL years ago
and had a Public Pool.
that is now a Skate Park.
(See Map on first Post, With Pool still
Visable in Arial)

Site where Construction is Now Happening was City
Resevoir through the 1800's

And Bordered AGRICULTURAL PARK & TRACK.

Picture 034.jpg

Before they put the Fence up,
I'm sure many People walked over to the Resevoir
& Maybe even Swam
in it. they did Fish there in later years.

the 53 Large is now My oldest coin there.
I got a 58 Flying Eagle there in sep. 08 & a 97
Barber Quarter in August 08
Plus Many Indians, Buffalos Silver Dimes , Wheats
V Nickels Etc.

hunt has been ongoing for
over a year when the weeds are down and
now that they are getting rid of the briars ? ;D

THANKS ALL !

Just like vayank54 said, I'd be all over that. I have been running a dozer for a few years too and have done quite a few projects like that.

There is a predictable sequence of events that will happen here:

Topsoil will be stripped and placed in a pile out of the way. You can MD some of that pile while it sits. Try the area that was stripped as anything that was 8" deep is now only 4 to 6" deep. Look for signs of old fire pits or latrines in these areas. After the pavement and sidewalks are in the topsoil will be placed in the landscape areas and spread in open turf areas where it can still be hunted. Sometimes when a few inches is stripped from let's say a one acre area it is then spread over an area of only 2 of 3 thousand square feet which concentrates a lot of targets in that area. This is the way most of these type projects work in the modern day, I don't know how they did it 40 or 50 years ago.

I always try to determine where the topsoil was used when I go to hunt a spot that has had a parking lot or building placed there recently. Some of my best finds have come from a big pile of topsoil on construction sites.
