Weekend's Fun Largie / Flint

Man we had some Fantastic Weather here in southern Pa. this weekend. Yesterday the temp was in the low 70s. Saturday afternoon around 2pm I was up on a ladder installing a light a on my porch when Mach 1 called and invited me for a hunt on the old property we have been working. A bit out of breath from running for the phone ( knew I should have taken it with me ) I accepted the invataion and finished up the job and hurriedly put my tools away. By the time I got to the site we had about 2 1/2 hours of daylight left. Hunting were Mach 1, his son, Brother in law, and his Father in law, who was swingging on old 4900, the Machine I started with many years ago. I said my hellos and headed for the pasture. I dug several Iron targets including a big spike that was by the 1807 Largie I got last hunt. I also got the smaller flat button near there. After a while I went over the fence to where Mach 1 had Brush Hogged the chest high weeds a couple of weeks back. There was no way to detect in there until he had done this ( Thanks again Mach :icon_thumright: ) There is a good bit of junk/trash in there from 200+ years of habitation. It was there I dug the larger Flat Button and 1798 Draped Bust. Mach 1 and his son had to leave shortly before I dug those. DeArmitt showed up in time to Dig his Zach Taylor Button just before Dark. There is still a lot of ground to cover and re-cover.
Sunday morning found me Trolling with the E-Trac in a harvested Soybean field looking for Arrowheads. Man I love hunting those too. Finding something 200 years old is Awesome but Finding stone tools that are 500 - many thousands of years old is Great too. Ended up with a Jar full of of Flint pieces and a couple of arrowheads and a small scrapper. Happy Hunting, BB

I love that 1798 Draped Bust :hello2:

I don't find many arrowheads while metal detecting so they are always a bonus. Always wondered whether detectors were brought along for arrowhead hunting. Nice flints and flat buttons :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:

A lot of people are finding those large cents....wonder if the period clothing is conducive to losing coins.

How did we miss that one before now!!! Sure wish I could have been there to see that one dug. :(

That site sure is turning out to be a great producer. ;D

And so is your soybean field - great Indian relics. :icon_thumright:

I don't know about the clothing, possible I guess. There was a good bit a traffic through this place for it's day, start of a Toll road. A fair number of Large cents I've found have came from Taverns :occasion14: I figured maybe they got drunk and fell down ;D
