My first Gold, and a very special ring

I found this ring the other day, it's just an ordinary wedding band on the outside, but a very special ring to me, it was my fathers, he lost it back in 1990 doing yard work. It was a replacement band for his original that was worn very thin, he only had it for about 3 weeks when he lost it, then he got sick and past away in 94. When I got my detector in 03, the first thing my mother said was I hope you can find your fathers ring I would love to have it back, so when I found it the other day I presented it to her. She was so happy and gave me a big hug, that made me feel so good I just had to share the story with you fellow detectorists, this is such a great hobby. Thanks for looking Dean

Congrats boondocker. One of the best stories I have read on here. Finding a sentimental artifact from a person who is no longer with us is special, but the fact that it's your fathers and you present it to your mom is priceless. Keep up the good work and Happy Thanksgiving.

I am very happy for you and your mother, Dean. That is really cool that you were able to find that ring. I had a similar experience today. I dug a ring (a stainless mood ring) that belonged to a family friend today in my sister-in-law's front yard. This particular girl was murdered when she was 12 years old in 2002 by her stepfather. Finding her ring today was a somewhat unsettling experience. Just felt like sharing.
