1700s House - Colonial "40" Token/Coin (New Cleaner Photos added)

(In new photo of back you can see two more holes that didn't go through)
Just got back from detecting a 1700s house I've been eye balling for a few years, was abandoned and no owner could be found, then it turns out a friend of mine is buying it, so I'm free to go there. Doesn't seem that it's ever been detected from what I found in 2.5 hours...1936 quarter, 1940 Merc, Croton Bell in nice shape...all not pictured yet, but I handed the following best find over to Earthworks to clean and photograph for me. It appears colonial era from the green patina and about as thin as a King George, but it's larger, about size of silver dollar and has the number "40" in the middle you can see. Has writing on edges across from the "O" in 40 as best can read "BRASD" + another letter punched out by one of the holes. There's some other writing across from the "4" along the edge, hard to read. I figure there's enough for someone to identify it. Other side has a shield in the middle with some type of pattern, it also has wreaths on the back. Any help appreciated. Thanks for looking, Bergie (Lots more to detect at this site; had to leave for an appointment or I would have stayed until dark.)

Re: 1700s House - Colonial "40" Token/Coin

Very cool, guys. Thanks. That's exactly it.

Re: 1700s House - Colonial "40" Token/Coin

Yep, that's the coin.
What's more interesting is the holes which makes it appear that the coin was made into a "Whissler" a popular game in those days. The alteration makes it worthless numismatically, but valuable historically as it tells the story of colonial life.
Nice find!
Dave.
