Hey gang,

Guess what? I finally got a chance to actually metal detect today!

We (my son and I) went to the town soccer field for a couple of hours. There is no activity at this field this time of year, so we had it all to ourselves.

Besides the usual clad, pulltabs and canslaw, I came up with a really neat little silver ring. It's marked STER J A and it measured a small size 3 on my mandrel.

Oh, by the way, this field is hunted by other detectorists, but they left this one for me. ;D

UPDATE: I did a google search on the hallmark and it turns out to be a James Avery ring! WOW!
New pic added.

Very awsome ring. A bird in a hand is worth two on the bush, then what is a bird in a nest on a ring worth. HMMMM

Re: Bird-in-nest RING! Gotta see

Though you didn't show the maker's mark JA could id the ring as a James Avery, a well known and well regarded Texan jeweler. Google it.
