ol home site gives up silver, 2 thimbles, 10 guage bullet, horsey iron NOT GOLD

2-hour search at a home site where a pair of small homes were bulldozed yesterday. The 64D quarter was the only coin I found outside of a handful of memorial pennies. Couple of flattened thimbles. Then I found a hammered piece of gold metal. Could it be? Answer: brought it to my local Pawn shop to be acid tested, turned green which means not gold. Thanks for all the replies.

10mm and .40 cal are the same size I am guessing they meant 10 gauge because of the brass...d2

Yup. Brass base to an old 10 gauge paper shotgun shell.

The "gold" item looks like it could be gold, definitely check it. It also looks like the one cent pieces we smashed to make "pirate treasure" when we were kids but the color isn't right for that.
