We have nearly done this site to death until the next big plough. Once with the small coils & then over it with the larger coils. But we decided it was our best option, & went to some of the edges of the hotspot.

So sticky, I gave up the spade & dug up hand!

11 Roman Coins
Roman Bronze whatzit - might be a steelyard bar :dontknow:
Nice Roman Leather Mount - different design than the usual ones (kinda cresent shaped/bullhead!)

Star find by me, pretty deep & I thought it was another bit of buckle when dug but its a:
Circa 8th Century Saxon Strapend :headbang:

tea has caffine , more so than coffee , and caffine is highly addictive in its own "special" sort of way -- I'm not english but a american southerner from florida ---and my how we so love our "sweet tea" here in the southern USA -- yes its a "old fashioned" stero type but its true in this case.

"high tea" was a old social caste type practice -- the english like many folks of old (americans included since many come from english stock) had very distinct "social lines" between upper class and lower class being "invited" to tea mean you had "made" it and that "whomever" it was that invited you had "accepted" you as "their" kind of "people"--ie you were "socially acceptible"--as such it was a "big deal"

tea wonderful stuff--- cuppa anyone? -- for hot tea -- earl gray ( 2 lumps please) or english breakfast (2 lumps and cream) is just fine -- but for sweet tea --chilled on ice -- black tea with a good bit of sugar .

I don't even go out of the house in the morning without having had a big mug of tea :icon_thumleft:. And when I have a fry up lunch it has to be with a cuppa. Having said that I LOVE my coffee :laughing7:. Oopps am I a caffine addict, methinks yes :laughing9:.

Another stupendous hunt for you. The Romans around here evidently weren't as drunk as the ones on your island, and didn't drop so many coins things.
