I hit a grass ball field at a local park this morning at 6:30AM.? I was passing over most of the iffy signals and concentrated on coins and rings.? It seemed that the park had not been detected.? I had dug about 20 targets and then got a solid VDI 44 indicating a ring.? I cut the flap, pushed it back, checked the plug and the hole...it was in the hole...first scoop I saw a gold rim...I thought - no way - I'm not that lucky.? I cleaned it off and it was a 14K men's band 1/4" across - pretty heavy (10 grams).? I sat there for a few minutes and just enjoyed the feel of a good find.? :) :D ;D? I hunted for about 2 hours total.

There is a 14K hallmark, a Latin inscription and a date.? I'll keep the inscription and date to myself for now...just in case I can find the owner.? Here are the pics...

Good job Beep! Sure is a great feeling when you get that glimpse of gold in the ground. I'm still looking for that first gold with my MXT. Again, way to go!

Congrats Chris! I told you you'd like that DFX. It must be the day fro rings & DFX's, because I found 4 rings at a new park today. The DFX sure is a lot different than the XLT isn't it?

Hey Paul - Yeah, it's a great machine. Since the mineralization is low, I've been using 15KHz...a bit better in the small gold range. Been reading a lot of books about the DFX which helps. Post those ring finds...I'd love to see them!

Our neighborhood has a community website with a lost and found section. I posted it there. I sincerely doubt anyone will come forward, but, hey, you never know. If they can give me the inscription and the date then, cool. "The softest pillow is a clear conscience." - Ancient Chinese Proverb.
