Hunted the small local park again today. Pretty good finds for only 2 hrs... $3.57 in clad, and one 1955 Rosie and 2 Wheaties, 1954 and 1923!
Also found a large necklace, and before I got home, I thought it was just costume jewelry.... Cleaned it up and it is .925!! Beautiful green stone in the center... I will post another picture of it after I get it cleaned and polished up... Due to it's configuration and size, I cant weigh it accurately, but it is heavy. I would say at least 40 gms..

I have about 1/2 of the park left to hunt. It is about maybe 1/2 acre in size... HH all!

You would surely know better than I.... I am not familiar with any kind of jewelry to be honest... I should have mentioned also, it has Mexico and another name I cant make out, both in the same spot as the .925....
I will probably be able to read it after I give it a thorough cleaning and polish job..

Nice chunk of silver you got there! I have to agree with the first post though. I think, but tell me if I'm wrong, if it was real old it would be marked STERLING, not .925. Still a nice find though.

As its from Mexico it may come from the artsy towns of San Miguel de Allende or Taxco. Both have a decades long history of modern jewelry design.

Can you get a photo of some of the marks. Well made and good design. Stone is malachite.
If the maker is some one, it can have some good value.

It's very easy to date Taxco jewellery if you are able to see the hallmark. I'll recommend the same site as montauk but another page: http://www.925-1000.com/mexican_marks.html and artzstuff understands a lot in stones :). It looks like malachite or serpantine to me too. Very good find :icon_thumright: WTG :hello2:

Re: BIG Sterling Necklace- Antique?

The necklace does appear to be antique. If I had to say I would guess from the mid 50's.. good work!!! :icon_thumright:

Re: BIG Sterling Necklace- Antique?

Could be a FREDERICK DAVIS item and that would be a great item.

Even with an unnamed maker they can have good value.

A similar item is listed out there for $450.00 A realistic price I might add having in the past sold stuff like this in that range.
