I knew that I had some coins in my safe from my grandfather, but I never gave them much thought.? After being on the forum for awhile, I got a bit more interested and decided to take a look.? Most are not in very good condition...I don't know anything about grading, or markings.? I haven't cleaned them yet since I didn't want to ruin them...I need to read up on that first.? There are 95 coins total.? Some pics have multiple types in them.

Re: Coins Found...

I would agree, don't clean any.... except maybe the buffaloes, and at that I wouldn't use any chemicals..... use olive oil or electrostatic.

That first buffalo looks like it may be the "two feather variety" I can't make out the date though....

Definately leave the Morgans alone- while not exceptional, they are not as common as some... the Carson City's are going nowhere but up. Yours looks to be about 45 or 50 bucks as is.

Can't make out the mints on the mercurys-

The Indians are all common, but still should fetch a buck or so....

Nice "finds"!

Re: Coins Found...

That first Buffalo I thought was a 1936 like the other two, but, on closer inspection, its a 1926.

Re: Coins Found...

Nice collection you got there Beep!

As already noted, those CC Morgans keep going up. Get yourself a Redbook and check out the pricing. There's a few online price guides as well that might be helpful, although I don't have them bookmarked on this computer.

Thanks for sharing!

Those are beutiful morgans for their date. Their worth a nice sum. I got a similer cache from my great grandma, about 20 morgans and peace.

Re: Coins Found...

Nice coins Beep!

The only one of significant value is the 1878, please note the CC mintmark under the eagle on the reverse. That coin would grade about XF, based on what I see in the photo- currently that puts its value at $110 in the latest Coin Market report from Numismatic News.

The rest are nice and I agree with the not cleaning- dealers will either not even consider taking a coin that's been cleaned, or give you next to nothing for it.

Re: Coins Found...

Looks like a great start on a coin collection to me. I would not clean them. Vern :)
