Found this today at an old homestead at first I thought it was an old salt shaker but the there is no place to refill it.? It is all one piece made of brass or copper.? It also looks like a minature lamp post.. but the wholes in it have me stumped. any info would be appreciated.? One other thing there are 4 sets of four holes on each side, not all equal apart or same pattern. hope pictures help any help?? Thanks & HH dave

I would guess a rattle or bell. Clean out the inside see if it has a striker or ball in it. Cladius.

Hello Elkboy, This piece has bugged me since you posted it. Have no clue what it is, but it looks familiar, like I've seen it before... I keep thinking I've seen one sitting on a shelf somewhere, but for the life of me can't remember where...May have been something from my childhood ::)

If you figure out what it is, Please keep us posted... I would love to know...

Will do, I have been showing it to everyone. It's has me puzzled to. I may take it to an antique dealer. May look like a fool doing it, but it has puzzled me since I found it. Keep you posted HH Dave

Looks like maybe an incense burner. Also it looks like it might unscrew where the long stem ataches to the main body.
