sterling heart shaped box "todays bottle dump finds"

did pretty good today at the bottle dump in the woods by my house. a few marbles, bottles, and this really cool heart shaped makeup compact. the compact is also marked sterling on the back. SCORE!!! my first silver of the year 59 grams... in my town old coins are really hard to find, so i resort to digging in old trash... so far this year i have found 3 wheat's a 1906 injun 10 marbles and as many bottles as i want... the dump dates from the turn of the century till about the 50's... thanks for looking a HH.. jon

Kinda hard to read but I think your Coke bottle is a Patent D Christmas bottle does is say DEC 25? should be a date of year too... it's right under registered.... also look on bottle of bottle an tell me what city an state...

yes it is a 1945 d-pat.. the town is ANNISTON ALA. i find alot of these old coke bottles from all over the south. thanks for looking. jon

the box cleaned up pretty well. still a bit tarnished but ill take it!!! reads on the back " HINGECO STERLING" weighs a little over 2 ounces. I'm considering having it restored for my wife, she loves silver and little trinket boxes so it would make a great gift for her... i love this hobby. jon

I would not advise this method... especially dump finds as you don't know what chemicals may be on the find that might react to the baking soda

Great silver, especially love the 1940's Pepsi bottle. Finding one of those along a creek bed in Maryland when I was in Jr. High got me started on my path of detecting Hell.
