We finally got out together, Daryl, myself and Carl (a friend). It was good to see Daryl after a long winter, he did not change much at all in that half year, only more informative. We will I think be searching a bit more this year than last, as he will be staying in Amsterdam longer than normal. On this hunt, we didn't really find anything interesting, but it was good again to be searching with friends. After I brought him home I visited for awhile with him and his wife in his great apartment, played with the cats, and chatted a bit with them both. They sure have a neat apartment this year! Since he is on the 3rd floor the crazy guy has bought an electric winch to winch his groceries upstairs...! Can you imagine? Hope I am not walking by when the crate of beer falls below!

Anyway it was the first day without rain and fairly warm, so the searching was pretty nice, the last piece of forest that we searched was great, soft earth, not too many roots or brush, and like I mentioned the weather made the day. The finds did not, nothing really older than the 19th century. Since we searched close to a fort (14th century) and castle we expected more. Oh well, better luck next time.

Scanty finds for sure:

Bird ring
Brooch with green stone
1 Gulder from 1956
1 silver dime from 1825
Indian Hanger
Lead weight
6 pennies from 20th century
4 pennies from 19th century
5 cent coin from WWII 1941
2x 1 cent coin from WWII both 1942

The area, me, and my finds.... (next time a photo of Daryl in his outfit!).

I am guessing that you wanted to write "I wish our woods were as clear as that"?
But yes, at this time of the year they are pretty clean. The other woods that we searcher earlier were also clean, although more darn roots.
You should have seen the woods in Serbia... ahhhhh... thorns and everything.... (did I ever send you and Shaun the Serbian CD?)
Photos from the mess in Serbia......Sometimes we could not get through the thorns.....

Hi Dan, was not much for here. We do find all around Holland signs of WWII. We did find about 10 shells on this search, Carl took them all. Most were 50mm (I think, not a expert on that), but there was one funny one. I will ask Carl for a photo...

Good to see you posting Woody!

I don't blame Daryl for buying the winch, the stairs there are more like ladders :o

You are right for sure, I went up the stairs to his house, it was more just like you say climbing a ladder.
I don't know the angle of climbing but its steep for sure. He is just lazy, that is the reason for buying
the winch. He wants to spend more time searching (don't we all).
Finally getting some time to do more on the net it seems....
