I have not posted in a while. I have had some of my friends email me and asked me to put my latest finds on TreasureNet. These are my better finds for the last month. I have not been out very much because there has been a lot of flooding in our area. My first find was an old cast-iron wrecker that is about 8 inches long. I put it into electrolysis and removed most of the gunk off of it. The second picture is of a compact and other assorted items I found around a house built in the 1950s. The GATE KEEPER badge was found in the same yard as the wrecker. This is the same site that I had found other badges previously. The old key, harmonica reed, and door lock came from an 1840 house that Vol1266X got us permission to hunt around. We also found some coins in the yard. I found an 1853 Seated dime and the other coin I found was a French 1814 Un Decime. Vol1266X found an 1854 Napoleon III copper coin and an 1866 Italian coin. The 1944S Mercury dime is one I found around an old house in my home town. The buttons were also found in my home town. I am not sure if the Eagle button is military issue. If anyone can ID it for me, I would appreciate it. Thanks for looking,
Dman

I just went with you to the old house since I obtained permission for us to hunt and to keep you out of trouble. Even though I'm not big on house hunts at all, that one was fun. I attached a pic of the 29 mm copper coin that I found. The figure on the coin is King Vittorio Emanuelle II from Italy. He was the first King of unified Italy in 1861. My coin was minted in 1866. The same size copper coin from France that I dug last Wednesday had the figure of Napoleon III who was the nephew of Napoleon I. He was President of France and promoted himself to Dictator in 1852-LOL. My coin was minted in 1854 and had some old rim damage.
Thanks to Crusader who enlightened me on European history. Nice Finds Dman!! I'm game to hit more area around the old house next week, Quindy

The UN Decime coin is French-not German, I believe. One of the previous owners of the old home sold horses and mules all over the U.S. and shipped some to Europe. He sent one guy (who had never even been out of our county in his life) to Paris, France to care for some animals he sold overseas on the ship ride over. We think that trip or prospective buyers visiting from Europe may account for the coins being there. HH.
