I felt like such a boob when I posted that I had maybe found some more silver and it turned out to be pewter that when I dug up this ring today I had to make sure it was stamped. It's only 10K but I'm pretty sure it's gold. The "stones" on top I am almost 99% sure are nothing to write home about - probably some decorative glass or something - but the sparkle nicely.

Nothing spectacular in the coins - but starting out with a couple quarters was fun for me! Then the costume jewelry trickled in - broken pieces - and more nickels than usual. The ring popped out last and then I went in to work. Ran some water over it and took my 10X lens to it and saw the "10K" stamp on the inside of the band and it made my day. :)

Thanks for looking-

Re: First Gold Ring

To answer one of the questions - I don't think the stones are real because I think one of them has a crack in it, and correct me if I'm wrong - but diamonds should be a bit harder than that? LOL! I will have it checked out for certain - to be 100% - just in case. It's for sure a real gaudy thing and I'm glad I don't have to wear it! HA!

I used the Radio Shack MD 3005 model to find these. (It works - but hopefully I can afford a better one someday.)

Had some more luck today - found a sterling silver ring in the same area. Overslept my alarm and only had about a 45 minute hunt before I had to bike over to work this afternoon. (Plus 53 cents in change - LOL!) I really want to go back on Saturday morning and try again for a good couple hours and see if anything else may be found there.

My humble thanks for all the wonderful encouragement and congrats on the last find! You are all so nice! :)

Re: First Gold Ring

I just looked up the maker of the ring, a company called "The Bell Trading Post" (New Mexico).
