Here are a pair of 1893 dimes found in the same hole in spring of 2000. There is an interesting story behind these. When I bought my most recent detector, I buried a plain old Lincoln penny in the ground to use as a test target. I came back a few months later to dig it up just for kicks. Much to my surprise, out popped these two very scarce 1893 dimes in high grade. By coincidence, I had buried the "test penny" about 3 feet away from them! I have to say I got a pretty good return on my investment of 1 cent!

Edited to add: missing photos

I hate it when they don't have pictures. Cool story though.

I think there may have been pics in the original post, and they somehow disappeared. Here you are, 6.5 years after the fact, some blurry pictures of two really nice dimes......

Both dimes are in the AU grade range, though the pics don't even show the full LIBERTY in the head band. Hopefully you can guess they're AU from the luster on the left one, though. Both were recovered in Ithaca, NY in the same hole.

Sweet dimes, thanks for the pics. I should have asked for the winning lottery numbers. :D
