Hey everyone,

Been slow here hunting lately in the NE. It's hot humid and grown in now. This is the time of yr I slow down. I had a terrible wheat to silver ratio this time. Like 40 wheats to 3 silvers. Hey we all have days like that right. Silver isn't easy to come by. I am up to 61 for the yr. The first 50 came pretty easy.

I was actually on like a week drought or so for a silver coin. Started to think my unit was acting up. But no just didn't get the coil over any. I did however manage to find a few keepers. Got a 1870 sheild nickle first for the yr. A few old tokens. One really old one. It says AM 5 Cent on front and Liberty Old Style Lager on the back. Found it with the sheild nickle so I know it is pretty old.

Just one indian head and a few common silvers. Not much in the coin department. Waiting till the fall gets here to get back at it hard again. Yesterday though I was really proud of my nine yr old son. I got him a new unit a few months ago. A whites IDX pro. Good unit let me tell ya. We were hunting a pounded park yesterday and he comes up to me with a beautiful 1913 barber dime. His first one ever. I was proud of him. Not his first silver but for 9 yrs old a great find for sure.

Now for the big find. We went to the Myrtle Beach area for a week. I was there last sep and the beaches are very slow and hard to hunt. Lots of sand on the beach that really never goes anywhere. Well after 2 days of night hunting things changed. One of those little trucks was out there at like 1 am cleaning up the beach and dragging it.

I decided to go out again and see if I could find anything. This beach is slow. I mean slow. Like you can't even find a clad coin. Well the second signal of the night tells it all. Came in at a 54 on the spectra around 10 to 12 inches down. It actually flew out of my sand scoop and I found it on the surface.

I didn't wanna make a scene so I put it in my pocket. After a few hrs I took it out to look at it under the flash light. I said man it is silver. And I said no it couldn't be gotta be white gold read to low for silver. And low and behold I look on the inside and see Plat. I almost fell over. I don't get excited to often but this one brought a smile to my face.

It is really heavy. I don't have it weighed yet. But I'm gonna say around 12 grams maybe a little more. It says Love Always on the inside with a date of 8/4/06. I was really happy to find that one. I bet someone was upset when they lost that one. I also pulled out a silver ring size 10 with a mystic topaz and two small diamonds next to it.

All in all it was a great trip. Came away with a few nice keepers. Had a great time and didn't end up with a speeding ticket this time. I get one everytime I go to the south. I even got pulled over in NC for having a frame on the licence plate.

Thanks for looking and I will be back again soon with more.

Thanks alot guys.

I was able to weigh the band the other day. It comes in at 10.5 grams. It is probably worth around 500 just in melt value. Retail may be close to a few thousand though. Best money find of the yr so far. Hunting the beaches would be great all the time. I could build a nice collection
