I went back to the field where Todd just dug the 3 plates and found a couple of nice relics as well. Two large Georgia buttons in great condition!! I just lightly brushed them to post but I'll try to clean them better later when I can take me time.

The reason we went to that field in the first place is because a battle map showed a Confederate Artillery position. I guess now we'll see if the research can put Georgia Artillery on that ridge.

Thanks for looking!!!

That is an AWESOME FIND....Being a GEORGIA boy implanted to Virginia for 15years.....Im kinda partial to them....Heck....Todd's day was great with those plates....and Todd and I have dug together SEVERAL TIMES and he's one of the luckiest diggers I know....>But I got to tell you.....TWO GEORGIAS is a close match with the plates :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny:

And having a hard time wondering which one I'd rather have dug (3 plates or 2 GA buttons).....BOTH WERE AWESOME DAYS and a BIG

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I will tell you from experience, I wouldn't do anything else than what you've already done to them....nice light brush job and just real light oil on the high points.....they look great and you can see that RED DIRT PATINA on them
so typical of Northern Virginia :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft: :icon_thumleft:

Thanks all for the replies.

Sentinel - I was thinking the same thing. I think they both rank as great finds and would be happy being lucky enough to get either!! And...I don't know if Todd is lucky or has a sixth sense for brass.

Hutch and Amy - Can't wait to meet up again and find the good stuff!!
