FOLLY BEACH S.C. CW & MODERN

Weather Was Just Great Here Today, Read Someones Post In The Last Day Or So About Hunting The Beaches Here In Charleston, Felt A Little Guilty That I Haven't Been Out To The Beach in a While, So Headed to The South End Of Folly Beach Where A Large Union Camp Was Located During CW. This End Of The Island Has Not Been Re nourished And The Mud Flats Are Exposed This Time Of Year. Found The Usual Clad, But Also Found Some Keepers From The Past And Not So Distant Past. 2 Three Ring Mini's Turned Black By 140 + yrs Exposed to the Salt, What I Believe to be a Silver Cravat Pin With the pin Broken Off, The Eye Piece To a Union Telescope or Binoculars, A Turquoise & Silver Bracelet, Turquoise & Silver Mans Ring, Silver St. Christapher Medal, Silver Cross and Last But Not Least an 18K Gold Mans Wedding Band. Not A Bad Day At The Beach For Me. trk5capt... 8)

So I ask myself, why am I wasting time here in Michigan? :-\

Oh well, it will soon be spring and then I can dig all those pulltabs and bottle caps again :P

Great finds and wish I was there!

Re: FOLLY BEACH S.C. CW & MODERN

Wow, great finds. I can't wait to hit the water. Here in Ohio I think I might have to wait awhile.
'But I was thinking of buying some waders and trying my luck in the water
early. HA! ha!.

Hey if you want a neat trick to clean the bracelet, try an
electrolysis. It works like this, you use a 9 volt battery charger,
you know like the one for you cell phone or maybe an old detector charger.
You put clips on the wires, I think the positive is the one with the white on the wire.
Put some water in a cup, add some salt, put a bent spoon in the cup.
Clip one end on the spoon and the other end on the bracelet or
what ever you want to clean. You will know if you have the clips right
because it will start to bubble and make a heck of a smell.

Make sure you do this in a the garage or barn, not in the house. Don't
leave it in very long. It will clean all that crap off of your bracelet and you can
polish it up after that. Good Luck, HH, Ringfinder

Re: FOLLY BEACH S.C. CW & MODERN

Nice finds TR5 and congrats on that honkin gold ring! That eye piece looks like it has some age on it or is it just the way the salt treated it? HH, Mike
