I did some more reading and hit a couple parks that were around since the 1880's - and as I was hunting I noticed many pie-shaped holes dug into the ground by another person that had hunted the same area. (Fixed them as much as I could - didn't want anyone making a fuss over it. Still, makes me mad to see someone who leaves such a mess!) The funny thing is that I found most of my finds near or right on top of the spots that had already been dug! The two liberty 50 cent coins were in the same hole as the one of the ones I fixed! Must have not been very patient I guess.

Scared up a few rings but they weren't gold/silver but still fun to see pop out. I'm hoping the weather will last this afternoon so I can get out again this lovely 4th of July!

So many amazing finds this week! Good luck to you all! :icon_thumright:

I'm proud to read your story. I hate to go to site, and find holes all over where someone doesn't fill the up. These are people that doesn't care for the hobby. I also spend lots of time refilling other people's holes. It make me sick to see them. Congrats on the finds, you did well. Happy 4th, and happy hunting.

Looks like a fun hunt, some really nice finds there! I hunt mostly the beach here in Florida and I still make sure I fill all the holes I dig, I see quite a few down here that don't...

Great to hear you fixed the holes... Look's like it paid off, 2 liberty half's is nothing to shake a stick out. Great Job :icon_thumright:

Great walkers  and everything else you dug too. What a fun hunt that must have been, congrats. Kudos to you for cleaning up after whomever was there before you too, thanks :hello2:

I saw the same problem in an area I was hunting a few years ago. What I had discovered were stray dogs that had uncovered and dug up the plugs made by a detectorist. It was a real mess. I cleaned up as much as possible. I believe the dogs had caught a scent around the plug, and just had to dig it up.

I have had racoons do that too  But I put an end to his antics, he got a new home miles away.

Beautiful walkers! I've only found one, and its really ugly because it had a fire built on top of it (by some dude who hates metal detectorists, I'm sure).

There's a local park I hunt that is infested with ground squirrels. I'm constantly trying to cover up the damage they do so no one will think it was ME.
