1917s Walking Liberty Half, Tombac button? Nice day to dig!

Today I spent some time at the back of a large piece of private property. There is a separate house there and had been a large pool since the 1930s. There have been MANY parties at this place throughout the years.

My brother and I have detected it often and we over marvel over the fact we find absolutely nothing I have found a rusty nail, a shot gun shell cap and a memorial cent. I keep trying though .. and today I got a reward for persistence My first silver half!

I was so nonchalant about digging - the signal was good but there was a nail nearby and it wasn't as clear as it could have been. I also just never expected to find anything I chalked the signal up to being false. So I did give her a bit of a scatch. But she is still lovely in my eyes.

I then had to move to the old house in the front and I think I found a large tombac button ? Someone let me know on that... I have only found one other tombac but it was smaller size and came out much more clean.

Found some other things... including a radio/stereo label that reads "RUNDIG MAJESTIC" (I know now that the "G" is missing and it should read "Grundig") but I get a kick out of it

Though perhaps "Walk Dig Majestic" is more appropriate today.

That is definitely a tombac button. When you are digging those, Colonial coppers are always nearby.

    Thanks everyone!

It was quite a thrill to see the coin peering back up at me from the hole. I really should have taken a picture. I so hope I get another chance to do so.
