that's what i would call a nice, mid-morning snack. :-X
we don't have scorpions here in new york,
but i generally love trying to find them when i go west and far south.
i suppose they could be a nuisance if you have to watch out for them
every day, but i would imagine they might register pretty low on the danger scale
of someone who shares space with some of the most poisonous snakes in the world.
thank you for the pic, would love to see any and all suck critters from your neck of
the world.

Nice one! (Or is that Bad one?)

Got lots of them here on the wet side of Oregon. Too small to worry about: less than an inch long.

Great looking transferware china . . . I've got the other missing pieces to complete the set if you're interested. ;D
Oh yeah, scorpions don't make for good house pets. Just ask my favourite dog Fido . . . rest his sole. :laughing9:

Rechecked the letters on the wedge Thanks for the id. How or what happened to this coin i cannot say. But there was no white settlement here before 1830 and gold was discovered in 1850.

Just proves that coins are no always an accurate way to date a site. If that one could speak, it would have heck of a story to tell. I'm out of guesses why it go chopped up like that :icon_scratch:

What did lizards do to you? They are pretty harmless. During my last dig I came across several legless ones that were hybernating. I very carefully put them back. Snakes usually don't attack anyone if you don't push them. I was within 2 meters from a tiger snake and we were getting along just fine ;D. Aussies are a quite brutal to their wildlife - run them over etc.
What is the date on Professor's token? Mine is ca 1857. Nice early button :headbang:

That is a scorpion. Nasty little critters for sure. I have been stung a couple of times when I was a kid. It easily compares to a hornet sting.

While digging for artifacts in the Mojave Desert I've had..

..a nest of baby scorpions run up the inside of my pants-leg,a black widow run up there and injected me on my crotch and last week a packrat ran up there, too. I'm going to have to start wearing undershorts.
