Gold 1780 United Netherlands 'HOL' Ducat

Hi all,
Started searching filled area at base of a bridge, lots of penny hits, got what I think may be another state cent ( smaller than a George HP),
Turned a clump of mud, found a modern penny, scanned the pile again,
peeled it open and the Sun Just Shined !
Bright as the day it was milled, 1780 Netherlands Ducat, Many with 'TRA' above sword sent to Ceylon for spice payments, This one with 'HOL' was intended for local use. Maybe I'll go back today......

Congrats on making the banner. We went by Newcastle yesterday on the way to Rye. The wife & grand daughter did a different kind of treasure hunting. Found over 80 pieces of sea glass in the rocks just south of Odiorne Point. It was a fun day. :coffee2:

Great find, another trade ducat, they are really common nowadays. Although Bio-pro's (you know who I mean) is somewhat older, yours has more style. And better yet, you found it in the States! He has not matched that yet in any way (only finding American gold coins). Also congratulations for making the banner!
