Good start..... I think everyone starts in their own yard, I did anyway. The dirt was here before we were and we dropped things.

Good Luck.

Really cool finds, I've always loved the old skeleton keys, guess it goes back to when i was a kid, and I used to play with the ones to our house and imagined that they fit an old pirates chest. ( which i haven't found yet, but will keep lookin).......LOL HH

Pretty decent haul of keys for one yard... a few of them look like they might be for the same lock...

I once found a key that still worked for the front door of a house I was renting 3" down!

Nice finds!

War nickels were made from 1942-1945 and have the mint mark on the back above the Monticello.

Great finds.. Are you sure you got permission to hunt before you started? ;D
I moved about 6 months ago... now that the weather is breaking I am starting to swing the detector around the new house...
haven't found much, but my 10 yr old son is hooked! I may have to find a lighter detector he can use a little better!
Thanks for sharing... HH

You can pick one up pretty cheap that does the job. My son, 5 yrs. old (acts like 10) is very
interested in detecting also. I usually let him handle the pinpointer for now though.

Def. check your yard ... never know what you'll dig up ;D

Great digs there Smartin.

Hunting your own yard is the best. I've lived at this address for 13+ years and I'm still digging good stuff today. In fact, the finds seem to get older and better as time passes. Detector coils don't really cover much area so it's easy to miss a lot.

D,

Neat collection of things. I still detect my yard, I know it's always good for a few late model pennies. I tell the wife it's my way of aerating the the ground for better grass.

HH,
Smartin
