I dug this 1877 seated dime today and I have never found a silver coin that did not show some silver color. Maybe counterfeit. The Half penny and the rest are from the past 4 weeks at various sites.
Looking forward to the harvest and have a few sites to research and hunt.
Best luck my friends and thanks for looking.

I dug silver in similar condition. Probably not counterfeit. Thanks Merf and it's good to see you post again. I can't wait to see what you pull out of the ground next.

Merf , I'm betting it's just heavily gunked and slightly toasted - not counterfeit - a light
electrolysis will tell all ! Argentium.

Hey Merf buddy, good to see you back my friend and with a Nice Seated! That's a very good hunt.....I agree with CCZ that that Seated is probably just heavily tarnished from

being in the ground for so long :icon_thumleft:

Hmm, :icon_scratch:

It could be anything but.... The thing that gets me.... :icon_scratch: If its a seated dime on a IH planchet it could be worth a lot of money :o and you would not want to electrolysis this. :dontknow: How big is it, is it the size of a dime or penny ?? ??? Whats it weigh ?

Great find !! :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

Nice digs Merf!! The map back round would be better if you could show 20- 30 more miles to the north.

Even if that dime was a fake, I'd be happy to get it!
