How did you clean that 1723? I think curiosity killed that cat and your copper. (green can be a beautiful thing!) ;D I wouldn't have said that but since you have the GW.... ya know. :laughing7:
i used a little soap and water and patted it dry.the greenish stuff was almost like a dust over it.i didn't use the soft tooth brush because the only thing holding the image on the coin is ready to flake off.you can see around the edges that if the dark thin crust comes off anymore i'll end up with a porous disc with nothing on it.

Yep, even water can kill em. You would have had a better result cleaning it dry and leaving it green... at least for my taste. The problem is sometimes it's tough to tell what's under the green.... and if it's worth the risk.

yeah well i figured 275 years of being in the wet ground..one little splash of water once more wasn't gonna hurt it.it had some globs of hardened dirt in some areas and thought my moistening it before toothpickin it off would be easier on the coin.
if that remaining green patina covering coin flakes off it's gonna be unidentifiable.maybe i should of just dry toothbrushed it off.
oh well..it is what it is.just glad to be able to identify it.even if i left it the way it was.the corosion was still under it and hardly worth much if i ever wanted to sell it anyways.into the copper collection display it goes

Awesome Fugio. I can only imagine the feeling to pull that out of the dirt. I bet it's going to be worth some serious cheddar.
